Modern adaptation
The classical Tambula included areca nut (Areca catechu) which is now classified by IARC as a Group 1 carcinogen — the leading cause of oral cancer in South Asia. Our recipe excludes areca entirely, retaining only the cosmetic-safe aromatics + Khadira catechu (the source of the historic red colour).
This is structurally a modernised version, not the classical Tambula.
How to apply Place ingredients on 2 fresh betel leaves; fold; chew slowly post-meal. Spit residue. · Once after main meals.
